Can't Stand Losin' You
03:42
|
|||
I called you so many times today
And I guess it's all true what your girlfriends say
That you don't ever want to see me again
And your brother's gonna kill me and he's six feet ten
I guess you'd call it cowardice
But I'm not prepared to go on like this
I can't, I can't, I can't stand losing
I can't, I can't, I can't stand losing
I can't, I can't, I can't stand losing you
I can't stand losing you
I can't stand losing you
I can't stand losing you
I see you've sent my letters back
And my L.P. records and they're all scratched
I can't see the point in another day
When nobody listens to a word I say
You can call it lack of confidence
But to carry on living doesn't make no sense
I can't, I can't, I can't stand losing
I can't, I can't, I can't stand losing
I can't, I…

Rest
01:32
|
|||
I gave to sleep a heavy hour
And every mental tissue bathed
Naked in its power
Surreal and drifting, rainbow black
Submerged in depthless lidded pools
Spiralling and slack
And when I stood again like crystal
Sharp clear and glittering
Reasoning, bright
Open to clarity
Sleep's rich colours faded in the light

Change
03:07
|
|||
Change is growing in you
Change is moving through your blood
You mark it out in clock beats
You can't just stand and watch it pass
If you didn't know the time
The Earth would not refuse to spin
Close your eyes and block your ears
Silent darkness still will change
The more things change, the more things change
Today's familiar soon is strange
Mighty empires fall to waste
Mighty despots change their face
Change for better, change for worse. It's hard to pin them down
Those afraid to make a choice all are longing for the past
But memories will also change as old hardships fade from view
It was no better back then. There's still the chance to start anew.
King Canute can't hold the sea
Time rewrites all history
Theory posing as a law
Tomorrow will reveal a flaw
Change. Change.
The more things change, the more things change
Today's familiar soon is strange
Mighty empires fall to waste
Mighty despots change their face
King Canute can't hold the sea
Time rewrites all history
Theory posing as a law
Tomorrow will reveal a flaw

Heroes Of Olde
04:42
|
|||
Arthur, the king of Camelot
He's the ring-a-ding-a-ling-inest king
Arthur, he likes to joust a lot
And he really makes the kingdom swing
Dragons run from Arthur's lance
And the Black Knight hasn't a chance
If you're in trouble, send a cable
To the hero of our fable
That's Arthur of Camelot
He took a sword from a stone
Made a table round
Took the bravest knights
And sat them around
Then all of Camelot knew they really had a king
Yeah, a king who could do darn near any old thing
Arthur, that's what the maidens call
Whenever they're lost or in distress
If you're locked up in a tower
He does rescues on the hour
He's our liberated, armour-plated, dragon-slaying king
That's Arthur, Arthur - we know an Arthur
King of Camelot!
Bravely bold Sir Robin
Rode forth from Camelot
He was not afraid to die
Oh Brave Sir Robin
He was not at all afraid to be killed in nasty ways
Brave, Brave, Brave Brave Sir Robin
He was not in the least bit scared to be mashed into a pulp
Or to have his eyes gouged out, and his elbows broken
To have his kneecaps split and his body burned away
And his limbs all hacked and mangled, Brave Sir Robin
His head smashed in and his heart cut out
And his liver removed and his bowels unplugged
And his nostrils raped and his bottom burned up
And his penis split...
Brave Sir Robin ran away
Bravely ran away, away
When danger rears its ugly head
He bravely turned his tail and fled
Yes Brave Sir Robin turned about
He gallantly chickened out
Bravely taking to his feet
He beat a very brave retreat
Oh bravest of the brave, Sir Robin
The sound of hoofbeats 'cross the glade
Good folk, lock up your son and daughter
Beware the deadly flashing blade
Unless you want to end up shorter
Black Adder, Black Adder, he rides a pitch black steed
Black Adder, Black Adder, he's very bad indeed
Black: his gloves of finest mole
Black: his codpiece made of metal
His horse is blacker than a vole
His pot is blacker than his kettle
Black Adder, Black Adder, with many a cunning plan
Black Adder, Black Adder, you horrid little man!

Bright Moon
03:11
|
|||
Bright moon, tell my baby goodbye
Bright moon, wipe the tear from her eye
Let your moonbeams kiss her cheek
Let her hear the words I speak
Though I see you rise in cancer
Be my true romance enhancer
Bring me her unguarded answer
Won't you make it soon? Bright moon
Bright moon, tell my baby goodbye
Bright moon, wipe the tear from her eye
Though I'm driving far tonight
Keep her in your kindly light
Guide my journey with your moonglow
You who make the tides ebb and flow
Just as sure as I have to go
I will be back soon, Bright moon
Bright moon, tell my baby goodbye
Bright moon, wipe the tear from her eye
On her balcony tonight
Bathed in your reflected light
While you're shining high above her
Tell her I'm her truest lover
She won't ever need another
Morning night or noon, Bright moon

Elephant In The Room
02:35
|
|||
I'm at a party, it's intimate and chic
A bit claustrophobic in fact. I feel a little weak
And the reason there's no room is the elephant in the room
And now the heffalump has knocked over the hors d’oeurves
His wrinkly skin and his trumpeting are getting on my nerves
Still I'll not whine anytime soon 'bout the elephant in the room
The guests who can't get in are lined up in the hall
The host apparently was crushed against the wall
Still the band keeps playing the tunes to the elephant in the room
Men with loud voices are seeking our attention
Still the pachyderm doesn't rate a mention
Only men with nom de plumes write of the elephant in the room
Some have suggested that we call the RSP
CA and remove him but we'd rather let him be
As the lamp lands with a boom knocked by the elephant in the room
On the carpet glass is strewn by the elephant in the room
The TV was smashed by whom? That's right! It's the elephant in the room!

Fill My Glass
03:10
|
|||
Can I get you a drink maybe?
[Maybe she'll agree]
We need to wait and see
You were strong, like I'd find in a shot glass
Were cold, cracked, but interesting
The ice released some flavour as it started melting
Let me drink you in easy baby
Want you to please me
I don't want you to tease me
Fill my glass
I had something to say
I was so sensitive I censored it
This test is too hard
Will I fail or pass?
I can tell if a label is top class
I'm something of a connoisseur
The right age is important - I could see that you were
I just wish this could be a bit more easy
Does she want me? [think me?] Sleazy company?
[She maybe won't see me as seemly company]
Come to me!
So I want you to pour me a hot splash
That my lips can sip nice and neat
Or shake me up a cocktail make it potent and sweet!

Wayward Waltz
02:13
|
|||
[soprano]
I wanna waltz with you
Just we two
But you don't know how to
What to do?
Come on and waltz with me
It’s easy as one two three
If only you could see
The way it ought to be
You've other partners too
One or two
I guess they're people who
Dance like you
I’d be one of a few
Is that the best you can do?
I wish it wasn’t true
What can i hold onto?
But since we don’t agree
I can see
Waltzing for you and me
Just won’t do
For me and you
[alto]
What ever you do, I want you just to waltz me too
To waltz me, to waltz me, to waltz me, to waltz me too
Know how to be not what others tell you to
If I were you then I'd be true
What if we want to be want to dance free? and easy?
Feel oh so free! Behave to me openly and honestly
The part of you that's too hard to undo I ought to make harmless
Not harness, not unless you want me to
A pleasant dance, my fellow pressing, hands linked together
But whether for ever we never knew
Ooh, to keep in step with you is hard to do
Ooh, to keep in step with you is hard to do
Unfort'nately we're not in harmony a pity we see no synchronicity
What ever you do, I want you just to waltz me too
To waltz me, to waltz me, to waltz me, to waltz me too
[baritone]
I wanna waltz with you, and you, and I want to waltz with you too
And you, and you, and you, and you
I don't know how to waltz with you but I kno-o-ow what I want to do
I'd waltz with you, I'd dance, it's true
What if we want to be… want to dance freely?
And if she happily were like me that would please me
Philosophically, be what you have to be, don't you see?
So don't be sad or angry at my honesty
Do other partners put you in darkness?
You'll think me heartless won't you?
Ah no, ah no, ah no, not true!
Ooh, what a pleasure, dancing each measure, feeling no pressure
Darling you can gather what ever treasure is new
Ooh, to keep in step with you is hard to do
Ooh, to keep in step with you is hard to do
We three unfort'nately might never be in harmony
It seems to me that we won't be
I wanna waltz with you, and you, and I want to waltz with you too
And you, and you, and you, and you

Out on the water the surface darkens with the sky
Rain pierced and wind driven, scene change the clouds go scudding by
Sun pauses on reflection and takes the veil with windy sigh
Light as much as dark or cold as warm
Visions in the dust and in the storm
Discovered in the feel and in the form
Wouldn't you grow weary of the same?
Every day alike and so again
Every face familiar every name
Nothing more to learn to lose to gain
Let's make a prediction that plans might change at any time
It's certain the sand's shifting each step is random by design
The safe things might hurt us the things most feared be most sublime
First as much as last or great as small
Lessons in the rise and in the fall
Told to one, to many, told to all
