Lines 03:23
A golden sea of flowers A lake so still and clear it mirrors clouds But somewhere near here cartridge cases lie And thereby emphasise the drawing of a line The drawing of a line The drawing of a line They cut through city streets Divide the sea and sky, cross wilderness They're nowhere to be seen but then, death Can be the sign of the drawing of a line The drawing of a line The drawing of a line Connect some points and there you have it A line to call your own Protect it well, die if you must That's the bottom line The bottom line A flag, a song, a faith The frontiers hang us out on lines of hate The thin red line must then dictate The measure of our time The ending of our line The ending of our line Oh that’s the bottom line

A visit with Joan in the late afternoon And we sat and we talked and had tea And the shadows grew long where all longings belong But the leaves grew green on the tree Yes they did, the leaves grew green on the tree Oh the river runs brown where the foolhardy drown But the banks are too languid for me And the torrent ran dry in the blink of an eye But the leaves grew green on the tree Yes they did, the leaves grew green on the tree Save me! Save me now Moments glow gold and then flee Row, weak against the flow But the leaves grew green on the tree Yes they did, the leaves grew green on the tree Back of your mind: see what you find When the dragon inside collides and free from fear The moth draws near Fortune is fleet for the soul on the street And the sanctuary closes at three And the more we yearn, then the less that we learn But the leaves grew green on the tree Yes they did, the leaves grew green on the tree Save me! Save me now Moments glow gold and then flee Row, weak against the flow But the leaves grew green on the tree Yes they did, the leaves grew green on the tree The leaves grew green The leaves grew green The leaves grew green

Break Free 02:38
Sometimes things go wrong yeah, we all know that But you must go on yeah, we all know that No one said you would have an easy road There'll be times when it seems an unfair load No one knows the score there's no easy answer You might have been there before there's no easy answer Take advice but listen to your feelings too But I'm sure that is what you're gonna do Soon you'll break free climb into the light and be on top again The problems of the now will be just history you'll start again Things go spinning on and they won't slow down now When you blink they're gone they just won't slow down now There'll be bad but let it just pass away Give it time it will always pass away Soon you'll break free climb into the light and be on top again The problems of the now will be just history you'll start again Dance, dance while you can Sing while you can Time enough for tears Soon you'll break free climb into the light and be on top again The problems of the now will be just history you'll start again

I see her wandering the dark streets at night In among the shadows, her image a ghostly sight Her face a luminous white With a touch of green From the reflected light of her cell phone screen She's my favourite texta. Ah! She stands out from the rest of the pack My favourite texta. Ah! She makes my night, she's my highlighter I feel drawn to her so The other assorted colours pale to her fluorescent glow Lookin' down at her hands, her thumbs are a frenzy Her features are perfect apart from the bruise on her nose From when she walked into the pole Some would argue that she's not The brightest crayon in the box but I must disagree I'd love to give her a ring but I fear that she's engaged So I try to draw her notice with a sign Made by felttip pen on paper Size A zero laminated Explaining the way we corresponded back in the day But she just walks right on by

Giant Squids 02:06
Giant squids at the bottom of the ocean Have a better time than we Giant squids at the bottom of the ocean Have a much better time than we do They have fun, they have fun They have great big squiddy fun In the dark, in the cold, in the deep They’re the hugest creatures Anyone saw with their eyes But nobody’s ever seen them and not been telling lies Boy do they know how to have a good time! Slappity slappity slap Flappity flappity flap Glip glup glap glop Glip glup glop flap Mmm A million tons of pressure And a million miles of room Squirt a million gallons of ink into the gloom They have fun, they have fun They have great big squiddy fun In the dark, in the cold, in the deep

For ages I've wanted my very own snurquoise A brown one I think, but dappled with bluish green It's not that I want to keep up with fashion, it 's just that snurquoises make me feel emotional On getting a snurquoise my heart’s firmly set I believe it would make a most excellent companion animal I went to the pet shop. They thought I was strange Tried to sell me a labrador, and it had some fur missing! I'd catch one myself if I only knew how Oh I want a snurquoise! I want it right away!

Breathtaking beauty Lips sipping cappucino Creamy and wet Yet when they softly parted They sucked on a cigarette!

Ascent 04:05
Male, my every muscle aches for ease Ascent into your beauty all my will With lingering, luxurious sighing, please Your womanhood with warmth I want to fill Your eyelids fall, you softly part your lips My own face feels your breath accelerate Your ecstasy is at my fingertips And these will please but not yet consummate Slowly joined our joy seems absolute But soon will swell to reach a new apex Exquisitely alive and resolute Our needs agree in soul-exploding sex I see you standing firmly in your strength And so begins the flood of my desire My hands and kisses travel down your length I’m drenched entirely and set on fire Naked welcome wordlessly gives voice As over you my breast and breathing glide I’m so aware, alive, utterly moist, So anxious for the feel of you inside! Strongly now we shudder as we blend The rhythm of your power escapes my throat I take your plunge again. Again, my friend I hold you hard as both of us explode!

Stay 02:34
When we are old and memories falter Some remain that never alter Like photographs inside my head Or lines of poems closely read Stay, fond memories, stay Keep me strong Tunes that filled our hearts with laughter Stay with us forever after In the silence ringing still Songs that made our bodies thrill Stay, sweet melodies, stay Keep me strong The brilliance of an afternoon Descends to dark, light fades too soon Yet love remains in evening dress Silk velvet’s tender warm caress Stay, clear light of day, stay Keep me strong You know I’m grateful for all of that Your warm calm settles like a cat Curled purring softly in my lap oh stay And serenade me once again Embrace me with your song and then Stay with me, my love, stay Keep me strong credits

Ooh wayooh wayooh… Sittin' here hopin' the train's gonna come Sittin' here freezin', mind's feelin' numb Wind tearin' through, it cuts and it rips Want nothin' more than the touch of your lips Train's gonna come, wind's gonna blow I’ll feel the touch of your lips no more, no more Your touch no more, no more, no more Sittin' here drinkin', this glass filled with beer Sittin' here thinkin' t'morrow is here Rain pourin' down, it's grey, cold and drear Want nothin' more than your voice in my ear Glass filled with beer, rain's gonna pour I'll hear the sound of your voice no more, no more Your voice no more, no more, no more Sittin' here singin', heart's gonna break Sittin' here cryin', I can't stop the ache Fog's settlin' in, blocks out the view Want no more than to be here with you Heart's gonna break. Fog's settlin' in I'll never feel the warmth of your skin No more, no more, no more No more, no more, no more No more, no more, no more

When should I lament you? When will I know I won't see you again? Your crazy ways would always make you Now and then, my oldest friend So when? When did we fall out of touch? Why doesn’t it hurt that much? Weeks are turning into years And cheating me of tears Where is it you went to? I need to know ‘cause I look in thin air I lose the few clues I had to you Here and there. I still care So where? When should I lament you?

Silver in a scarf, her head bends low Shuffling and short, her steps are slow If withered lips should speak What history might they say? Name friends of long ago? Paint scenes of yesterday? Some agony or joy undimmed by fading years Perhaps would make those wrinkles run with tears It’s true I don’t walk very fast But I walk today not in the past I teach a class next week We discuss my latest play I have to choose the cast The audition’s Saturday There’s passion in my work - read the reviews But I only cry when I watch the evening news
13.
Now I'm Sittin' on top of the world Like fine wine in its prime Like a cherry on a sundae Deserving a serving of dessert How sublime that now I'm Good friends with Monday!

May summer sun unfreeze your way Today is pleading to be seized You've been waiting – now you may No-one's needing to be pleased Except for you. So seize the day! Farewell the finished season's grey And hue your blues to match the sky's Let open hope dispel dismay Gleaming courage is the prize That beckons you. So seize the day! And when, in time, late afternoon’s Pushed morning’s memory far away When light and warmth are leaving soon Try not to grieve, but rather seize The rose-bright sunset of the day And even ‘though the evening slowly Dims, and grudges you the light You can contest its overthrow Against the chill set warm goodwill In friendly firelight seize the night! Swim in midnight’s blank, black stream For in its gloom you luminesce Sense your soul’s remote extreme It’s unfamiliar otherness Feel surreal and seize the dream! Breathe the morning, clean and clear Free your hope into the air Let it rise above your fear Find your friends are everywhere And seize the new day dawning here!

about

Lines is the second album from Miguel Heatwole Andsome Friends.

While Miguel's works still constitute most of the tracklist, increasingly there are excellent contributions from other composers in the group. Dallas de Brabander's jazz chords colour the depth of her joy and loss, while Terry Clinton, whose comment on armed conflict, Lines, give us our title track, continues to contribute poetic gems. We're delighted to have Clark Gormley, the most well-represented composer from outside the group, share not only his genius for comedic writing, but also his strong bass voice on one of the tracks.
