Fallen
02:08
|
|||
The leaves have lost hold of the branches as always
Which leaves us with gold and wine-colored pathways
In the same way I've
The same way I've fallen for you
You opened your arms like a school door to summer days
And opened my heart to the rumors of a higher place
Now where was I?
Baby I've fallen for you
Love is always on the go again
It never stays in one place
Day by day it changes and it grows
But you always recognize its face
Day by day it changes and it grows
But you always recognize its face
The leaves have lost hold of the branches as always
Which leaves us with gold and wine-colored pathways
In the same way I've
The same way I've fallen for you
Like the star in the night
Baby I've fallen for you

Here Comes The Flood
03:21
|
|||
When the night shows
The signals grow on radios
All the strange things
They come and go, as early warnings
Stranded starfish have no place to hide
Still waiting for the swollen Easter tide
There's no point in direction
We cannot even choose a side
I took the old track
The hollow shoulder, across the waters
On the tall cliffs
They were getting older, sons and daughters
The jaded underworld was riding high
And waves of steel hurled metal at the sky
And as the nail sunk in the cloud, the rain
Was warm and soaked the crowd
Lord, here comes the flood
We'll say goodbye to flesh and blood
If again the seas are silent
In any still alive
It'll be those who gave their island to survive
Drink up, dreamers, you're running dry
When the flood calls
You have no home, you have no walls
In the thunder crash
You're a thousand minds, within a flash
Don't be afraid to cry at what you see
The actors gone, there's only you and me
And if we break before the dawn, they'll
Use up what we used to be
Lord, here comes the flood
We'll say goodbye to flesh and blood
If again the seas are silent
In any still alive
It'll be those who gave their island to survive
Drink up, dreamers, you're running dry

Lay Fallow
03:12
|
|||
Heed the voice in the wind my child
Leave the field til the grass grows wild
Every blade is borrowed
Let the land lay fallow
Down below the waste and weed
Dormant lie forgotten seed
Waiting for to have their head
And sow again the ancient bed
Long before the jubilee
Wiser heads than ours believed
Offered thanks of fruit and grain
Brought the seasons round again
Though your lot seems fair at best
And this plot a poor bequest
When every ounce of gold is found
The prize will lie in fertile ground
Born around the birth of flame
The primal wind knows time, knows change
Commands the skies and moves the land
Yet trembles in the human hand

Blood And Gold
02:45
|
|||
On rides a captain and three hundred soldier lads
Out of the morning mist and through the silent snow
Whistling gaily rides the captain at their head
Behind him soldier boys sadly weeping go
“Oh lads of mine, weep no more
You are gone to kill and die!
For when you took my gold and swore to follow me
You sold away your lives and your liberty
No more you'll till the soil, no more you'll work the land
No more to the dance you'll go and take girls by the hand
Oh mother weep for your son
He is gone to kill and die
You'll weep you'll die by the keen edge of the sword
All alone by the muddy Danube shore"
He gave the order for the drummers to beat their drums
That mothers all might know the life a soldier leads
Oh mothers weep for your sons
They are gone to kill and die
“Unfurl your ragged banners and raise your pale young face
You'll all go in the fire there'll be no hiding place”
“O mother hear the drumbeat in the village square
O mother that drum's for me to go for a soldier there
Mothers, sisters, wives weep for us
Marked as Cain we lie alone”

Through bushes and through briars I’ve lately made my way
All for to hear the small birds sing and the lambs to skip and to play
I overheard a female, her voice it rang so clear
"Long time have I been waiting for the coming of my dear
Sometimes I am uneasy and troubled in my mind
Sometimes I think I'll go to my love and tell to him my mind
And if I should go to my love, my love he will say nay
If I show to him my boldness, he'll ne'er love me again"
Through bushes and through briars I’ve lately made my way
All for to hear the small birds sing and the lambs to skip and to play

Song Composed In August
03:24
|
|||
Now westlin winds and slaught'ring guns
Bring Autumn's pleasant weather;
The moorcock springs on whirring wings
Amang the blooming heather:
Now waving grain, wide o'er the plain,
Delights the weary farmer;
And the moon shines bright, when I rove at night,
To muse upon my charmer.
The partridge loves the fruitful fells,
The plover loves the mountains;
The woodcock haunts the lonely dells,
The soaring hern the fountains:
Thro' lofty groves the cushat roves,
The path of man to shun it;
The hazel bush o'erhangs the thrush,
The spreading thorn the linnet.
Thus ev'ry kind their pleasure find,
The savage and the tender;
Some social join, and leagues combine,
Some solitary wander:
Avaunt, away! the cruel sway,
Tyrannic man's dominion;
The sportsman's joy, the murd'ring cry,
The flutt'ring, gory pinion!
But, Peggy dear, the ev'ning's clear,
Thick flies the skimming swallow,
The sky is blue, the fields in view,
All fading green and yellow:
Come let us stray our gladsome way,
And view the charms of Nature;
The rustling corn, the fruited thorn,
And ev'ry happy creature.
We'll gently walk, and sweetly talk,
Till the silent moon shine clearly;
I'll grasp thy waist, and, fondly prest,
Swear how I love thee dearly:
Not vernal show'rs to budding flow'rs,
Not Autumn to the farmer,
So dear can be as thou to me,
My fair, my lovely charmer!
